Let Justice Roll: Implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples- Canadian churches are committed to the full implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a crucial means for achieving reconciliation between Indigenous and settlers in Canada.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) named the UN Declaration in 16 Calls to Action. In Call to Action 43 the TRC called upon the Government of Canada to “fully adopt and implement” the UN Declaration as “the framework for reconciliation.”

You are warmly invited to participate in an interfaith conference on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to be held at Westmount High School on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The UN Indigenous Declaration, adopted in 2007 and affirmed by Canada in 2016, “is the most comprehensive international human rights instrument to specifically address their economic, social, cultural, political, civil, spiritual and environmental rights.”

Honours at Convocation 2017

The Senate and the community of the United Theological College are honoured to recognize the leadership and ministry of two colleagues at our Spring 2017 Convocation.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the United Church. At the national level, various committees and task groups rely on the wisdom and God-given talents that committed individuals bring to these positions. Some feel they are answering a spiritual call when they apply for these positions; others have been nominated by friends and colleagues who recognize that their abilities are just what the church needs.
